The butterfly is correlated in various traditions with transformation and rebirth. Just as the larva goes through several stages of change and development before becoming a butterfly, we too must go through significant life experiences, evolutionary ones, in order to discover our true goals and establish inner peace within our souls. Like the caterpillar, some people build around themselves a cocoon, a chrysalis, a shell, denying themselves the chance to experience new things, new loves, and fulfill themselves as the person they could have been. Similar to how the butterfly needs to break out of the chrysalis to take flight, we must break out of our comfort zone to find the most successful version of ourselves.
The earrings were crafted from 999 purity silver and then enamelled through a process called hot enamelling. Hot enamelling involves applying successive layers of glass powder to the surface of the silver and then firing it in special ovens at temperatures ranging from 730 to 900 degrees until the glass melts and fuses with the silver. It is a laborious process, but so satisfying, and the colors obtained are superb.
