Pandantiv ''Love in the Underworld''

465 LEI

In the ancient Greek myth, the love story between Hades and Persephone is complex and multifaceted. According to some versions of the myth, Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, the Goddess of grain and agriculture, was a beautiful young woman who was beloved by all. One day, while she was picking flowers in a meadow, Hades, the God of the Underworld, saw her and was immediately smitten. Hades abducted Persephone and took her to the Underworld, where he made her his queen.
Demeter, was devastated by the loss of her daughter and searched the earth for her. When she finally learned that Hades had taken Persephone to the Underworld, she was filled with grief and stopped tending to the earth. As a result, the earth became barren and cold, and crops stopped growing. The other gods and goddesses pleaded with Demeter to return to her duties, but she refused until Persephone was returned to her.
But Hades tricked Persephone by offering her a pomegranate from which she ate 6 seeds and consuming food from the Underworld would forever bind her to this realm. Finally, Zeus intervened and arranged for Persephone to be allowed to return to the Earth.
Persephone became the Queen of the Underworld and ruled alongside Hades. Initially, Persephone was upset and refused to eat or drink anything in the Underworld. However, Hades eventually won her over with his love and attention, and she became his companion and queen.
While the details of the story may vary in different versions, the idea that Persephone eventually grew to love Hades is a key aspect of the myth. In some versions of the myth, she is portrayed as a stern and formidable figure, while in others, she is depicted as more benevolent and caring. In some myths, she is depicted as a mediator between the living and the dead, and is often invoked in rituals and ceremonies related to death and the afterlife.
